Hanging Pot Racks

If you are like me you don't have enough counter work space or cabinet space in your kitchen. A kitchen island or microwave cart may be the answer to your problem. Many kitchen islands are available on wheels so they can serve as a portable workspace as well as a storage cabinet. Roll it over to the area where you need it while you are preparing food and roll it back against the wall when you are done. Having rollers on your kitchen island also makes it easy to clean underneath.

Think how you will use your new kitchen cart or island before you make your purchase. Will it stay in one spot or do you need rollers? Will open shelves serve your purpose or would you prefer cabinets on the bottom of your cart to keep out the dust. Some kitchen islands have a fold out breakfast bar, spice racks or knife racks. Tops are available in wood, butcher block and stainless steel.

An interesting fact I found while looking for kitchen islands, carts and chopping blocks, is that wood cutting boards are safer than plastic. It was previously thought, that since would was more absorbant than plastic, it would harbor more bacteria. Turns out that just the opposite is true.
